PRO Conference Schedule

March 3rd, 2012

7:30 - 8:30 Doors Open, Registration, & Continental Breakfast

8:30 - 10:00 “Playing to Learn": The Connection Between the Body and the Brain
Children instinctively know: “playing makes me smart for school.” What children do physically plays a major part in how they will develop all other abilities. Discover how the brain works, what affects brain development, & how children learn best. Most importantly, be able to articulate the connection between playing and learning!

10:00 - 10:30 Break

10:30 - 12:00 "Picasso Meets Einstein": Discovering Math & Science Through Art
You don’t have to be Einstein to teach math or Picasso to get children excited about art. Young children learn math and science concepts everyday as they play and explore the world around them. Find out effective ways to make children’s discoveries come alive through visual, hands-on, sensory art experiences.

12:00 - 1:30 Lunch, End of Silent Auction - Salad, Baked Potato, Broccoli, Tuna, Iced Tea or Lemonade.

1:30 - 2:30 "GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING! " Movement Play & Physical Activity for Every Body
Join in cooperative games & use simple equipment to increase moderate to vigorous physical activity, refine motor skills, & improve coordination for all children. Learn how to make inexpensive materials & props.

2:30 - 3:00 Break

3:00 - 4:00 "LITTLE BUSY BODIES! " Active Learning for Infants & Toddlers
Early movement helps children connect with others and form strong relationships, promote physical development and build their intellectual skills, communication and self-confidence. Learn activities for children ages 6 months to 3 years old. Infant and toddler caregivers are involved with one of the most amazing and rapidly developing times of a child’s life!

Vendor & Resource Tables will be open from 7:30 - 4:30pm.

Childcare will not be available - nursing infants welcome.

This conference provides 5 training hours for: Registered/Certified Homes, CDS, or Oregon Registry Requirements.
